The Mini to get us to Italy and back in just 14 days!

What's it all about?!
This year we are lucky enough to be taking part in the 20th Italian Job, a car rally in aid of children charities, in the year that celebrates the Mini’s 50th birthday.
It's a real privilege as the entry to the event is limited this year, so we're very proud to be 'Raising Money for Children in a Fun Way!’ This annual fundraising event has over the last 20 years has raised over £2m pounds for children’s charities in the UK and across Europe.
The Italian Job 2009 will raise money for KidsOut, the fun and happiness charity (Charity registration Number 1075789).
Our challenge is to join the other “Jobbers” and drive the 3500 mile round trip to Rome and back in (Becky’s classic Mini Cooper which turned 14 this year) having raised enough hard cash through fundraising, sponsorship and any means legal, to enable KidsOut to put a new mobile multi-media centre on the road.
Unlike our counterparts in the 1969 movie, we will not get involved in high speed pursuits attempting to outrun the local police by escaping across weirs, through sewer pipes or through crowded city centre streets (which is a shame!) however, we will be driving on the roof of the fiat factory!
We will not be stealing gold but instead be raising as much money as possible for KidsOut. We set off on this mini marathon on the 17th October heading first for Turin, before heading off on the navigational rally to Florence, Imola and Rome with visits to the Monza F1 circuit and the Ferrari test circuit at Fiorano (not a lot of people know that!).
Hopefully returning safely back home in time for Halloween on 31st October.
David Baker, Chief Executive of KidsOut says, “The Italian Job is the perfect vehicle for us to promote our work and make serious in roads in the efforts to help young people feel included irrespective of their geographical location. The mobile multi-media centres we provide aim to reduce social isolation among children and young people living in rural areas and fringe estates. They are proving a real hit with the young people who use them and we are truly delighted that the Italian Job has made such a mighty commitment to us".
Oh and just to make it that little bit harder, we've only had one month to get everything sorted!
